Meet Katherine from Cane Market Farm.
Hello, I’m Katherine. Welcome! Please join me on the blog at Cane Market Farm, a place where I share my love for handmade DIY projects, from scratch recipes, farmhouse restorations, homestead projects, gardening, and thrifty finds.
My husband, David and I, have always dreamed of living in an old farmhouse sitting on a large property. Most of our marriage was spent living inside the city limits on about an acre in an older craftsman style home. We gardened where we could and planted our roots down. It’s where we raised our two children, Dylan and Savannah. We had a good life on Benton Lane.
And still, we both dreamed back to our childhoods where both of our grandparents raised cattle, chickens, and plowed the land for gardening. We both appreciate a simple and more sustainable life.
Fate would have it that our farmhouse dreams would come true.
August 2016 our city experienced historic flooding where we lost everything! All of our belongings ruined, and the house needed extensive repairs. It was at this point that we decided instead of rebuilding we wanted to completely start over!
We ended up purchasing about 4 acres of land and found a 100+ year old Acadian style farmhouse that was set to be demolished. We moved it 27 miles to its new home! It’s been a hectic time in our life as we’ve done all the renovations and additions ourselves but we wouldn’t have it any other way!
I have so much information to share. Please join me!
